2 Lahmacuns, freshly baked in a wood fired oven, topped with mixed salad and a sprinkle of Aleppo chili flakes, then rolled up for easy eating on the go.

I know BYOL is the cheapest but I was just interested in what the rest of us who don't BYOL eat.
Lunch in the city is obscenely expensive and can come up to around £5 if you want to be full.
It's a shame that Subways have stopped doing their £1.99 Sub of the day .. good times .. good times
Also found another gem today at Boots : Chicken and mayo sandwich at the handsome price of £1.
Ramen noodles. Back when I was a student, I'd use the postgrad lounge (I was an undergrad...) to put boiling water over ramen noodles. 18p. Then have an Apple for dessert, or whatever I'd been able to pick up from the green grocer. I even started picking up fruits for the lounge, with money from the coffee budget.
Chinese supermarkets have so much range of these. During a term when I ran out of money thanks to my LEA, I was given a poverty briding loan by the uni, but it wasn't nearly enough. Suddenly, I went from living on £40 a week, to happily managing on £10 a week. Then when my student loan came in, I was able to live like a king!

My work does a bloomer sandwich and chips for about £1.87.
I buy the large salad pots in the supermarkets.. they vary from £1 to £2.50 according to size and content. I like the ones with carrot and cucumber and a couple of tomatoes plus loads of rocket/salad. I rartely use the sachet of dressing though. They normally come with a spork.
Wegiht of fresh salad and veg varies from 100g to 250gm.. so I get between 1 and 3 of my 5 per day that way.
then.. a £1 - £1.30 sandwich to go with it..
Once per week I buy the cheapest 330,l or 500ml water bottles in 12 packs or even 20 packs from which ever supermarket has them on special.. don't care about brand...i used to fill a water bottle at home but it wasn't normally enough water for a day, sometimes I forgot it, or it stood in the car etc and wasn't safe to drink.
Once per week I buy a large multi pack of crisps .. what ever is on special offer...
I drive daily many hundred of miles.. so food and drink always available for lengthy journeys and traffic is key for me.
Buying in bulk, when its cheap, saves loads of money.
NEVER buy crisps or water at front of store.. always go to the back of the store and buy more of it for less dough

35x 500ml bottles of water are £3.29 ex vat, so circa £3.94/£3.95. No faffing checking other prices, that's not a special, constant fixed price.
I feel your pain, at times feels more like driving a lunchbox on wheels!
Also this! Just resist the temptation to tuck in, just because it's sat there. Too tempting with big multipacks of snacks!
