Wouldn't she be better with a small bore shotgun? Even the UK occasionally allows people to own shotguns.

11 year old boy kills 8 year old girl with a shotgun. I guess it does prove that shotgun can be accurately used(/tragically misused) by someone who isn't a full grown man. So I guess that it might just work for that disabled lady. I really would've thought that the recoil would be too much, but I know nothing about gun recoils other than.. well, CS.
(In this case, the parents definitely have much to answer to in my opinion. But regardless of what crime statistics may imply/be interpreted to imply, the thought that I could expire on the whim of a kid is really quite terrifying)
Actually, no, for several reasons. Semi-automatic .410 shotguns are thin on the ground, although you can find them in both AR and AK platforms. Unfortunately gun control laws require shotguns to have barrels over 18" increasing the weight of what is already a heavy barrel, and making them less suitable for people with limited mobility. The .410 cartridge throws out about twice the muzzle energy of a 9mm from a 16" barrel, which means a lot more recoil. The other issue is magazine capacity. The AR platform .410 gives you about 15 rounds, compared to 30+ in 9mm, and we're assuming this weaker individual might have difficulty with magazine changes. The 9mm carbine has the advantage of lighter weight, recoil and maneuverability in a confined space.
I live alone in Rural NC, in an area that has had some issues with home invasions due to the distances that the local police and sheriff offices have to travel. I doubt that a disabled, senior woman lives in the same circumstance. And I don't really need the 9mm for home defense. I can just as ably protect myself with the 12guage, which I do use for other purposes. It's just a lot more messy, especially when fired indoors.

Oh, well that makes it alright, then. So long as the shooter knows their target and knows they will be at the school, my kids will surely be safe from harm there, then....
Twist the stats any way you want and count the bullet-ridden bodies in whatever classification sounds best for you... Mass shooting, school shooting, college shooting, drugstore loony, gas station nutcase, waffle-house weirdo... I really don't care what you want to call it or how you want to classify it. It still happens.
There are still guns in schools and bodies resulting, where my kids might one day be one of those bodies.
THAT is the concern.
I was speaking in jest.
I am a big JJ fan.
Not necessarily. I own several swords, longbows, quarterstaves, bucklers and so on, and have spent many years learning to use each of them properly.
