For all the people who are already planning for Christmas to have all their plans turn to ash and dust.
Seriously, all the hype is the reason it's become so damned expensive, lots of people buying stuff no one needs or wants whilst consuming ludicrous quantities of food.
It's the epitome of whats wrong with out consumer driven society and only serves to feed inequality

I just bought myself a present, but it's October so it's not an early Christmas present, it's just a present.
A new phone would be nice. Current one is a cheap Chinese thing that is starting to disintegrate and not work properly. But then I have to figure out which one to buy, which is impossible because there's over 9000 to choose from.
A week off work to catch my breath. I'm loving it, but some breathing space is going to be lovely.
Some time to spend with my family, I'm working twilight shifts and see little of them at the moment so that would be good.
I've got myself a little present already as I am not expecting much for Christmas, if anything, I do enjoy giving gifts to my close family. Nothing too eccentric though.
Fallout 4. Maybe one of those SAD lamps for when real winter starts in January/February time.
Time with family and friends and away from work please Santa
(whatever happened to "our" Santa?)
A nice dinner with the family will be good enough for me at Christmas, I don't need or want anything else.
Odd one this. Not sure how to answer it. If it's just a "name your desired trinkets" thread then I could reel off a few things that I'd like to have, but honestly, I wouldn't particularly care whether or not I "got them for Christmas". If it's a "things I'm looking forward to this Christmas" thread then that's a little easier. Overall I'd say Christmas for me isn't so much about receiving anything but rather a time for reflection and appreciation.

Exactly.
I play the Grinch card, somewhat but not entirely in jest, but here, there's no young kids involved. Those family members with young kids are thousands of miles away. The youngest round here finished his doctorate several years back.
Also, we're not particularly religious and I'm certainly not, so there's no religious significance.
So, the Christmas period is about peace and quiet, getting off the ratrace for a bit, and just having calm, relaxed, stress-free family time. Presents don't enter into it.
In fact, about the one time I'm guaranteed to not give presents is when they're expected, that being Christmas and birthdays, which I also ignore. The best time for presents, by far, is when it's not 'forced' by convention or expectation, but when the givee gets it from the giver completely out if the blue. That, I thorougly endorse, when the givee knows it represents genuine thought, not fulfilling the pain-in-the-rear duty of fulfilling a Christmas or b/day expectation.
It all changes if there's young kids involved, of course. But here, there isn't.
