One of the best things I liked about his comedy was the tangents during his "shaggy dog" monologues. Most of which where self deprecating in a light-hearted manner. Such gems as the following;
I was lying in bed with my wife last Sunday morning when she called me by a special pet name she has for me, a loving and endearing term that only she uses. 'Hey Shorty' she said, 'would you like to hear the patter of little feet?'
Somewhat taken aback, I replied 'Yes, I would.' She said 'Good. Run down to the kitchen and get me a glass of water.'
Of course as a child of the 70s "The Two Ronnies" will always have a special place in my heart, so it is especially sad that they are now both gone from this world...

A real shame, so many people that were on TV when I was a child are now getting to that time of life. RIP Ronnie, you made me laugh on many occasions.

Another sad day. "The Two Ronnies" were essential viewing as a child, the timing was impeccable. But it was his strength that he was still doing successful comedy even after the death of Ronnie Barker.
