Cheapish Family Friendly Hols in Scotland (Soon)?

Hello Hexites!

Looking for some informative input.

My family and I (2 adults, 2 young kids - 3 & 4) might have the chance to head over to Scotland to see my brother-in-law who will be visiting Scotland himself for a wedding. The wedding is taking place at a location "45 mins from Glasgow" and we might have the chance to spend 1 or 2 days with him out of the week that he's there for the wedding. I thought that if we go we could use the opportunity to extend the trip into a 1 week break. It's a bit spur of the moment so there's no budget set aside so I'm basically seeing what sort of things can be done on the cheap. Just a get away and some fresh air would be nice, and the kids would enjoy some space too.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Glasgow science centre is pretty good, our 2yr old enjoyed it, I wouldn't say it's cheap though :/

45 minutes from Glasgow covers a wide area. Where exactly are you staying?

Kelpies in Stirling, Falkirk Wheel, Edinburgh for the day (plus a visit to Edinburgh Zoo?) and a visit to Pitlochry in Perth (stay over night) can visit distillery's and do a little hiking etc. loch lomond aquarium is also good.
