I'm sorry get real, it was just fancy dress....
You look at the editions of the Sun or The Mirror when England play Germany and see who uses Nazi imagery without thought to consequence!
a fool for wearing that costume
unsuitable for Sandhurst
just a teenager trying to live a normal life
...taking after his grandfather...
able to sort this all out with mass apologies
deserving of a criminal charge
a top bloke...wouldn't we all large it up if we were him...

In the meantime, I think they do have a responsibilty not to get people's backs up.

Does anyone else find it a little odd to hold a party themed "Colonials and Natives?"

I couldn't care less about any of the royal family tbh, if he wants to dress up as Hitler then go ahead. Not like he has anything better to do.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
I do feel it was a mistake, because i'm sure he knew it was going to be taken out of context (I dont think he could of offended anyone with a ghost costume). Being a prince, i'm sure he has at least 1 advisor around who would be there to point out fau paux's such as parading around in Nazi parafanilia.
Ben
PS: another thing, the whole world is now seeing images of a member of our royal family walking around in the uniform of the third reigh. Thats really going to help our image
I really find it difficult to care, with all the death and devastation in asia the front pages are taken up with pictures of a teenager having a laugh with his mates - sure bad choice of costume but what he does in private is his business.
If any other teenager did this would anyone really care... I highly doubt it.
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
Sun Sensatialism for you once more.
Yes it was probably bad taste but really he didn't actually go out of his way to offend people as has been said! Some random photographer intruded on a private function to take a photo which would clearly rile up the masses. Private lives are private lives and I sure as hell don't care what he does in his own time.
And Vaul, please, you were joking about the fact that you read the Sun weren't you?

It is hardly harmless fun. Is he an idiot? Infact don't answer that.
Concentration camps were throughout Europe just a generation ago. Descendants of people who barely survived murder and torture are alive today. Light-hearted-dont-mean-no-offence-by-it indeed.
Sensatialism, yes, but how impossibly dense would you have to be?
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
People have been wearing Nazi costumes to fancy dress parties for decades. No one gave a flying f*ck before some papperazzi photographer intruded into someone else's private life and one of the least responsible reporting agencies in the UK made a big fuss because they'd run out of adjectives to use on the tsunami. Everyone else just jumped on the bandwagon afraid of being labelled a Nazi sympathizer if they didn't. Except Fergie who turned around and actually put it into perspective. Not a royal fan here but the ramifications of this are Germany seeking a Europe wide ban on Nazi fancy dress costumes.
In fact the tsunami death toll has rocketed towards the quarter million mark but the Sun hasn't batted an eyelid over that.
It's now busy calling the British army a disgrace over the actions of 3 individuals.
