I have to say that at least one of my mates "got it on" with a girl in the house.
It is ok going out clubbing with loads of birds, it brings it into a whole new perspective, helping them when they are puking their guts up in the girls bogs and not getting kicked out was also quite different.

not on your nelly! i wouldnt live with 7 blokes cos it's hard enough living with one! doesnt matter what anyone says, 7 blokes in 1 house will make a mess, not an untidy mess (altho that too) but an unhygenic mess! And i'm a hygene freak, so i couldnt hack it

however girls do tend to be slightly more hygenic (with the odd exception) so yeah i prolly would live with 7 other girls

    but beware of the bitchiness!

Eight people in one house? It better be some kind of a mansion.

Well, I used to live in a house with various amounts of girls, plus my ex-girlfriend used to live in a student corridor of all girls.

I can just say that in my experience and what I've heard from other people is that it's probably a bad idea having that many people live together in any situation, regardless of gender.

At one point I was sharing a house with 6 people and it was quite hellish due to bad billing management, chore handling and mutual respect.

    If anything, *enforce* the following.

    - Job Quota (not a rota, people aren't always around to do all their chores).
    - A person responsible for co-ordinating bill payments, and PAY them for their time as it can be very stressful.
    - A central bank account for direct debits for bill payments.
    - Monthly standing orders from tenant bank accounts for bill payments.

I'm scarred from house sharing sadly (Basically the house I lived in had turned into a "crash site" for caners, pissheads, druggies etc. - I was trying to run a business, get over my ex, and keep my sanity while people were downstairs until 4am snorting coke or smoking pot).

I'm currently just living with one other person (who is female!), and that suits me a lot better, but unless you have a bunch of very mature understanding people, then it is definately hard work. You do have to formalise it all to an extent.

In regards to girls - well, they tend to be a mix of open and closed about their feelings and sometimes in certain situations they will nag and moan about various things, sometimes eachother. I think 7 girls together is a bad idea. I guess the same could be said for guys. :S

Good idea, and a good post thanks
Sounds like you had a pretty stressful experience there!

Yeah, have a good solid think about it. Any potential problems should be thought of, from electrical failure, late bill payment, perhaps hiring a cleaner (It'd be cheap split 7 ways), rules involving noise (I'd recommend quiet after 10:30pm, and no loud music in the mornings).

I have had some good experience house sharing, specifically when it was just me, two guys and a girl. We all used to go shopping together, and on occasion we drove to North Devon and partied by the sea!

It did morph into the situation above after one guy left because the girl was taking up too much of his space, the other guy turned a bit alcoholic and the girl manipulated me into asking him to leave which made me fall out with her - to top that we had to panic and get some new housemates who really didn't gel with us - and to this day I still feel the repercussions of the whole situation quite badly!

Very soap opera, but when its subjective, its very real and depressing.

Tread carefully and manage peoples expectations!

The results really don't supprise me given that most people on these boards are young males. Maybe some of you have been watching too many american teen movies and are a bit naive. I have done loads of house shares at Uni and after leaving. You really need a balance. Living with a group of the same sex would be just as annoying after a while. In fact 7 of even a mixed sex is only fun until the novelty wares off and you can't find anything clean in the kitchen or need to get up early for an exam but everyone else is partying. Because when your a student weekends and week days are all the same!

Oh well, you will have a laff anyway, uni is such an experience

    Good luck to you mate!!!

So whens the Hexus housewarming party ?

Seriously... you will not regret it mate. What you will LEARN when stopping with these ladies is nothing short of a revolution. You've seen that film with Mel Gibson where he can read womens minds? Well you'll not be able to get that far advanced but you will gain a LOT of inside information from your housemates and this in turn will make you look more caring and thoughtful to future partners
