    Disposing Li-ion batteries

Are there any high street shops known for taking in li-ion batteries?

I would like to dispose a mobile phone battery but the nearest council disposal centre is inconveniently located without a car.

Any chain store which sells electronics should take them, often in high street stores there's a special battery bin hidden behind the till so it's a case of asking if they'll take a battery. Even stores that sell the odd gadget, for example; Tesco, Ryman or WHSMith should have these bins. Maplin and Currys PC world definitely have them.

Ah, so those places aren't limited to the typical AA/button batteries? That helps.

It depends on what battery recycling scheme the shop has signed up to, some less electronically oriented shops may only take the usual AA and coin cells, but the major electronic retailers take pretty much anything that isn't industrial or a car battery.
