    Buying a Field?

How do you go about this???

    What's the going rate?

Once you have it can you do anything you want??? (Obviously you cannot build without planning permission), but what about drag strips / Tanks / Racing cars around it or Blowing stuff up?

Land has a classification assigned to it, be it industrial, agriculture, etc. If you want to change the use then you need planning permission. If you buy a tank and drive it around a couple of times a week, not much problem. Start doing it as a business and your in trouble. Claypigeon shooting grounds are often got by this as they can operate a set number of times a year before requiring planning. As to blowing things up havent a clue although would be interested to find out. You can get a license to hold and use black powder upto a set amount but apart from that not sure. You can buy nitro powders over the counter without a license (or you could last time I bought some), but most gunshops would probably want to know what you want it for. If you strole in and ask for a kilo of whatever gives the biggest bang, they will probably call the plod. If you want more info can ask the wife when she gets in, shes a planning officer.
    All the best

It would be purely for personal pleasure. I just thought it would be a nice idea if you had somewhere you could go and do whatever the hell you want without worrying about anybody else.

I think land is about £30k an acre with planning permission. Not sure how cheap it is without. Probably still far too expensive.

The police have power to stop you doing anything anti social or even anything potentially dangerous to your health - including playing with the local animals....

i.e it is now illegal to joyride on your own land.

The land around my parents is currently in developement for a large new estate.

Land for high density housing costs £300-400 THOUSAND pound and acre.

Yep - thats why houses are so darn expensive (down south anyway).

Because if you injur yourself the national health service have to pay for your treatment, and even though you pay your taxes the gonvernment would still rather not risk having to pay out for you

sodium chloride weedkiller goes up rather well..... we had to be really careful who we sold it to when i worked at a garden centre... but they couldn't watch the stores all the time BANG! i wouldn't mind having a field, build some jumps in it, and a banger track from knox to drive round.

if war is the answer, then we are asking the wrong question

    why not by an island?

There are loads of islands in the world that you could buy (not big ones but np!).

Just think, you could have your own country, declare independence, make up your own rules, have a 2 mile drag strip down the middle of the island.... it would be AMAZING!!

The uncle of this bloke i know owns an island that he bought for £40,000 and he has all sorts of sweet stuff on there..... and he just does whatever he wants cus no one is exactly gunna come and tell him not to on his own island..

Dangerous driving, recless driving, all the new versions of those old laws, carelessness etc.....its a nightmare

Talk to a member of a motor club about sorting a basic autotest cos its gotta be done right.

Imagine you have a field......10 of your friends have a few nice new shiny, totally legal cars, and you have 50 plastic cones that you purchased from a plastic manufacturer.....and you have a new stop watch , and you wanna play.

If you want to put those cones out in a "time trial", and get your mates to drive round them, against the clock, with the passenger hanging out of the window with a tennis racket, pushing a ball along with the car (this mean you are doing 5 mph tops ).....

you need a license from the RAC MSA and you must inform the Police, and then have Motor SPort is dangerous written everywhere.

You get the point.....this country really does suck badly sometimes

best idea would be to buy a conveniantly abandoned runway etc. then do this as a business.... could be quite lucrative too

I should have the right to injur myself whenever I choose!

Abandoned Runways... That would be good. As would an Island. Would need a boat to get to it though.
