Can anyone tell the difference between these 2 books? - RTFM

I can't see a difference in the book themselves. Just the price is very different. The dates are the same.

As far as I can see the only difference (as you'll have noted) is that the second link is the 'proper' Amazon page with what I would therefore assume is the appropriate, sensible pricing - the other is one that's been created despite there being a listing for this title already. As the 2 copies from that same seller are priced higher for Used than New :/ (& US sellers are notoriously madly priced on Amazon anyway) I'd say that's the aberrant pricing & you should be ok with the £4.94 copy, can't see any key difference.

Duplicate listings on Amazon run to double figures in some cases - 6, just for the first I tried off the top of my head - product details are often wrong & it's highly annoying.

edit: on further checking there are at least 3 other listings for your title, so yeah, just sloppy duplicating really.

It's to do with how amazon uses ASIN rather than ISBN for listing books. This allows discrete listings of a product in different Amazon country sites and also segregation by category. The more expensive version is using only ASIN, and a different one from that for the main Amazon listing so it appears to be a separate product as far as Amazon's database is concerned. If they bothered to list the ISBN too I wouldn't mind betting it is exactly the same book. I guess they hope that by doing this someone won't find the main listing, and pay over-the-odds for their one instead.

Exactly. Should be something in place to prevent this ideally.
