Reading this thread, would I be right in thinking you'll be needing a new Administrator soon? Seems like the entire Admin team is about to retire on medical grounds!

......On top of that Sinuses are blocked and having to use a steroid based nasal spray from the doctors but its doing nothing to help but been told to stop using the Vicks stuff as it can cause more longer term problems, so eyes are hurting due to the pressure.

I have had an ongoing Sinus bacterial infection for months now in my right Nostril. Tried no-end of sprays, anti-biotics etc. Just when I think its gone, it comes back.

She had a kidney problem, had three lots of antibiotics and it wasnt going away, last straw was going to A&E with severe back spasm. I said it was a kidney stone.
Yesterday she passed a kidney stone.

That woman has a stupidly high pain threshold.....

The good news is kidney stones no longer hurt after passing 30+ of them.

No, I lie. They still hurt like hell. Fortunately my GP gives me my own stash of Pethidine tablets!



All I can say is thank God/Allah/The Force/whatever high-being you believe in, for the NHS!!!

Ah yes, thought you meant on the day like the barium stuff they make you drink for certain scans!!

I got Movieprep (apparently Picolax is a lot worse) and had to drink a liter of it at 7pm the night before and then 7am on the morning, yes it was rank. I did try putting some cordial in it but it made it worse!!

Needless to say a roll of toilet paper in the fridge would have been a great help as when it started it was 3 hours non stop!!!

Indeed. I didn't mix anything in, but alternated swigs with apple juice to try and get it down. And moisturised towellets are a god-send (In my case they found h pylori and a stage 1 polyp but was small so hopefully no further problems, though I'm a bit young for the latter and I've just been told there's a letter waiting for me at home from the hospital :/)

A few weeks ago now I was fairly unwell, started out with usual common cold symptoms; sore throat, bit of a runny nose, lethargy, etc. Then the soreness mostly went but my voice sounded like Darth Vader or something for a few days, then just as that was passing I ended up with the most agonisingly sore throat I've ever experienced.

However the pain was fairly unusual - for a sore throat I'd usually describe the pain as a sort of scratchy, spiky pain, but this was more like an ache which became severe when I tried to swallow, and without meaning to sound gross, trying to spit hurt like hell too, and on a few occasions I woke up through the night with a mouth full of saliva, and the pain woke me up a few times in the early morning. Even Solpadeine Max and some anaesthetic gargle didn't take the pain below moderate (I very rarely take painkillers, and even then 500mg paracetamol is usually enough) and it was still taking me close to an hour to finish a meal.

Although I was lacking many of the classic symptoms and the visible part of my throat was only slightly red+swollen, my GP tested me for EBV, which came back negative, so I've no idea what it was.

I'm not sick at the moment, couple of weeks 2-3 months ago for me, so not bad. But I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on a flu jab are?

I know it's a bit late but I'm due a jab and not sure if I will take it. I've had it like 4-5 years and 2 of those I got sick immediately after. I know there is no live / active virus in the jabs and this is probably a coincidence but still - do you folks get the flu jab, does it help, anyone else get sick sometimes afterwards?

Not late at all for the jab. I get it if my company offer it at a time I can make. Absolutely worth doing IMHO - not so much for me, but the elderly that I come in contact with (herd immunity effect). I have only ever had mild cold-like symptoms after.

Nope, feeling just dandy, thanks. Well, a little tired maybe and perhaps a tad bunged up - can't seem to draw a full lung full when I breathe in. Oh, and my right knee aches from twisting it carrying a sofa down a flight of stairs, and my left ankle still hurts from knocking it when I twisted my knee...

Some headcoldy symptoms atm but could very easily just be the flu jab I had on saturday morning.
