    Kindle unlimited

Anyone use this? Is it worth the cost? Any books worth reading, or is it all old stuff?

    Re: Kindle unlimited

Yes I use it, and have for some months. It depends on what sort of reading you want to do. I have found veins of sci-fi to mine which have kept me very happy, but if you want a specific book chances are it won't be on there. Mind you, one of the authors I read knocks out a book every month or two (!!) which is almost enough to keep me busy

I signed up because I ran out of interesting stuff on Amazon Prime. I expect at some point I will give up on Unlimited as well, but not close to that yet.

Having said that, I think most of the books I have been reading are only a few quid. If you only read one or two a month you would be better off just taking a punt and buying them.

I've only had a couple of "I'm glad I didn't pay for that" books and only one I didn't finish.

IMHO, both g8ina and Dances are right ... it depends what you want. For my purposes, I reached the same conclusion as g8ina, but I can see exactly where DanceswithUnix is coming from and 20 years ago (had Kindles existed), I'd be doing that too.

The one fly in the ointment for me is I like printed books .... to the tune of several thousand of 'em in my library, with the latest additions being yesterday. My preferred reading experience is paper, but there is no denying the appeal of Kindles too, which for me is about convenience, travel and, these days, .... backlighting.

My perfect solution ....buy a physical book, get a downloadable e-version free. Meantime, I continue to buy printed books and often find an, ummm, workaround, for the e-version.
