Too late to help now, Spreadie, but you don't actually need the polling cards. They have your eligibility in the polling station anyway, on their lists. Best take proof of ID, though, like passport/driving licence, and maybe a couple of current utility bills, but you can just show up with ID.

I'm actually surprised they do seem (here, at least) to accept polling cards. Strikes me as highly flawed, and a very weak control.

(Regardless of the way you or I voted).
The British people may be split on whether they want(ed) to Leave or Remain, but about the one thing that more or less unites them is that the politicians have made a complete, total and utter shambles of the whole thing, are showing the country up as a laughing stock, doing real damage and generally are a thoroughly useless collection of duckwits.

Though, in contrast to ducks and to be fair to them, they're kinda inverted. Ducks seem serene on the surface but are a roiling morass of confusion under the water, whereas Westminster are visibly a foiling morass of confusion. Mayge they're serene under the surface, but they're certainly giving a creditable impression of a bunch of idiots that couldn't get laid in a knocking shop.

They'd just do what everyone else does with unrealistic ideas, tell people they just need more of it harder and faster (stop giggle down the back ) or that it's not the idea that's flawed it's those meddling kids and that dogs fault.

Unless, of course to paraphrase Andy Murray you don't care you you're subsdrvuent to, and long as it's "anybody but England.

In which case, I (genuinely) wish you good luck with independence.
Nothing wrong with independence. Indeed, there are many small successful independent countries. As for being part of the EU but not the Uk argument, it's hardly similar.

How many laws are controlled by the EU compared to how many (in scotland) are controlled by Westminster? If this Brexit shambles shows anything, it's that the government of the UK is NOT fit for purpose. Scotland gets laws imposed on it that it did not vote for because many laws and powers are not part of the divolved settlement. THis means that often policies come through that do not reflect Scotland as a country and the democratic will of the people who live there. Having all policies and laws decided in the country which they will be imposed makes the most sense (in my opinion) which is why I support independence and self-determination. I agree there was already a vote on this, and we lost. However, circumstances have changed. Westminster should not be allowed to vote against a referendum if the majority of the parties in Holyrood have voted for one.

In terms for the EU or wholly independent argument - that should be up to the people of an independent Scotland (If that was to happen). Scotland did vote to remain. As such, the majority of people in Scotland WANT to be part of the EU. Just like the majority in England do not.

    However, this is off-topic.

It's a shame there is no exit poll. Would have been good to get some early information to see if there was any surprises.

Yes, it is off-topic. Interesting, though.

I agree with a fair bit of what you said, though would challenge some, but you're right, it's not the place.

As for exit polls, IIRC that'd be illegal just as in UK elections there are strict limits in media reporting during election day, until the polls have closed. Hence, the Beeb for example announcing exit polling at about 5 seconds past 10pm.

And some EU states don't vote until Sunday, hence reporting restrictions until the last polling stations, EU-wide, have closed.

Re: EU Elections - Will you be voting?

    Yes and Yes
I voted in the referendum and I will vote in the elections. I'm fed up with the messing about our government is doing at the end of the day we live in a democracy and the majority of people voted to leave, now get on with it and stop trying to block it. Also by taking no deal off the table we weakened our negotiating stand point. We should have said we are more than happy to walk away with nothing and trade with the rest of the world and then the EU would give us a better deal so that we trade with them, I thought politicians went to fancy schools to improve their intelligence I pretty sure any 12 year old could have told them the above.
