grrrr at usa VS our prices

why is it that america always gets lower prices than us but not only that but that they also have rebates by the shed load?

i was just looking at the epson 1290/1280 prices , over here its £260ish over in the usa its $400 works out at around £210 so we pay £50 more to start with but not only that but they also get a $100 rebate!!!.

compare epson uk and epson america and the first thing you notice is that their front page is plastered in rebates everywhere

how can this be? we are part of europe yes? and call me stupid but am i not right in saying that the european market is a shed load bigger than the american so why do they **** us about so much?

because we have to play more VAT and stuff, yes i'm jealous, BUT because we pay extra VAT it mean's we get free hospital treatment, and lots of other services, trust me, it's much better this way

It's swings and roundabouts. Try buying a mobile phone in the states.

Also, don't forget that almost all US prices are quoted without tax. Their taxes are generally lower than ours, but it does still add at least another 10% on top of the item.

I don't pay VAT on anything at all when i'm at home...ever. But it doesn't take that much more money off on things than the US

How much difference in import tax is there between the US and the UK?
if something is made in the US then obvioulsy it will be cheaper, but if they are imported
thats when the price diff gets on my tats.

Kezzer is one lucky son of to live on the channel islands, but still, its only 17.5%

Look at US to UK prices 100$ normally means 100£ over here, at the current exchange rates, thats near enuff twice the price, if you discount VAT, theres still a lot of difference

    So unfair

Last time I bought electronics stuff from the US, VAT and import duty ate all the savings, plus I had a bunch of extra paperwork to fill in
