Google Pay limits

Off the back of the QOTW with contactless payments - I know many people spend more than £30 with Apple or Google Pay - even my local petrol station say people use it all the time, but I cannot get mine to cough up more than £30 at a time.

Am I being dim? Is there something I need to do to get it to cough up more? I did ask my bank, but they looked at me like I'm a raving loon for suggesting that more than £30 be spent.

I figured you folk might know given the number of you who do use it.

any chance it's the retailer limiting it?

ie have you tried paying over £30 at a place that definately takes over £30?

Yes, my petrol station, they say lots of people do it. Which is what confuses me.

Some bank limit it more then others do, ring you bank & ask them to confirm your limits! I was surprised when I was able to spend more then £30 on mine, but it turns out my bank allows up to £45 iirc.
