    Ebay Question

The "but it now" option that was on my auction has gone. No trace of it. Zip, nadda, just not there. Any ideas why ?
I had somone interested in buying it at that price you see, but now its not there, thats going to be a problem...
If he does want to buy it at that price, is there anyway i can get him to bid on it at that price, and close the auction so he wins ?. Can you close auctions once they have started ?
Guess if the worse comes to the worst, i can just get him to bid a stupidly high price so he wins, then just have the pre-arranged price off him ? (it looks like he's collecting it anyway, so cash will be done).

Yeah, there is an option somewhere to close a auction early if you want. If not just end the auction and then setup another sale with the buy it now link and send it to the person that wants to buy it, then they can get it right away.

if you set start price £10, buy now £30
    then someone bids £10,
    your buy now option dissapears

if you set start price £10, reserve £20, buy now £30
until someone bids enough to meet your reserve, then your buy now price stays,
once someone bids £20 or more then the buy now option dissapears.

    hope that explains it.

if your buyer bids £600, and the auction ends at £600 on an item worth i don't know £40, then ebay will take your fees from the final sale price (and on £600 that'll be heaps), so you're best selling it for the actual price you're going to get for it.

if the buyer definitely wants it for the buy now price, you can end the listing early as 'the item is no longer available'. (and you could relist as a buy now only auction - as this means you'll both get feedback from the transaction)

that happened to me too..and I didnt know that.

    SO...what we're saying is:

Once a minimum price as been bid, the Buy it Now goes invisible?

Why on earth would it do that? I want someone to KNOW what the Buy it Now price is!!

    I'm confused

That explains it Josh. Glad im not alone Zak thinking its a dumb way to do it, i mean, if i want a "BUY IT NOW" option for a hundred odd quid, whats the point of it vanishing if somone bids 2 pence ?

agreed. Its like saying "you have one chance but if someone bids less, thats it, you've missed the boat, back to waiting for a week for the auction to finish"

    No real control is there?

so you have to set the reserve price to the same as your by it now price for it to stay there. which kinda ruins the point.
