    Cybertruck

I would think a number of you have seen this already, but just in case, Elon recently unveiled his new road vehicle the Cybertruck. The launch didn't go as planned though as the testing of the resistant windows didn't quite go as planned....

Live-unveiling problems aside, it's a bit of a marmite affair in terms of looks and the Youtube comments can provide a bit of a laugh - what do you think Hexites?

Definitely one for the american market - the size alone rules it pretty much out of the UK

    Re: Cybertruck

First, I have not seen this till now and not watched the video but from the still image, all I can say is. The people who would buy one of them monsters are the kind of people who have 5 years supply of baked beans in a tin can with 0.5m of dirt above expecting it to survive a nuke... come on we all know that you need at least 0.6m and enough ammo and guns to blow them up to kingdom come and back. While you're at it put some kind of explosive gas in one to really give it that last kick.

Anyway, what was said above ahah.

    Re: Cybertruck

Wait, is that how its meant to look? I saw the clip from the glass test elsewhere and thought it was a placeholder/dummy vehicle. It looks too bland, almost oppresively so...

you could probably drive one April 16th 2020. and get to test the glass resistance yourself.

    Re: Cybertruck

While I don't hate Tesla as a company, the only car I've ever liked the look of was the original 2008 Roadster, more because it was a Lotus body.
The rest that they have designed have been bland, boring and/or ugly imho.

This truck now goes the other way as a whacky Tonka toy. Kind of like the Hummer.

I'm happy to wait a few more generations of battery development and infrastructure before I make any switch.

    Re: Cybertruck

Looks cool and futuristic... I for one look forward to seeing more of the things I've seen in Sci-Fi as a kid becoming the norm.

So the live demo failed... doesn't matter. Happens a lot; Gaming I've seen this happen a lot during E3 demos etc... but doesn't diminish from what the concept was. I'd love to drive a "futuristic" car.

I think it looks like 1970's sci-fi, so not really that futuristic at all

Sometimes the low-poly look is cool, but I don't think it is working here. Not for me anyway.

I was a 90's kid and into Sci-Fi a lot (and still am). And this looks like some of the stuff I've seen when growing up on TV and other media. And sure, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And to me this looks pretty cool. If I'm honest, some of the lines are ugly, but at least they're trying.

And frankly, I still want to see some innovation in car design (on ones I can actually afford, not the supercars!)... it's long overdue IMO.

Aesthetically it looks cool, but still like a blank canvas, at this stage. Needs lots more detail and lights and stuff.

Glass failure is pretty damning, though.

That has lights, they are thin lighting strips. That's quite clever and probably durable, but not pretty. Or not pretty as used here at least.

Whilst I agree, in reality I only ever see people buying what they think is a safe option. Heck I get people saying my Alfa is lovely but they would be scared to own one and that is far from a risky purchase. My neighbour said he looked at them but was worried about reliability, and then of all things bought a Range Rover, bottom of reliability charts for years

Would hate to get in a car crash with that truck, those kind of shapes you tend to see on Robot Wars.
