    A number of minor issue relating to my PC / Internet Browser / Firewall all conspired to keep me away - oh and that annoying advert that used to be at the top didn't help.

    But it is good to be back, and thanks for the greetings :-)

    Cheers - one tries to make an effort to bring a little , and into everyones lives.

    But sometimes it can get a bit confusing and silly, story unfolds.....

    A long time ago I used to frequent another forum in another place and for another subject, namely films. I started off small just voicing my opinions on films and suchlike, then discovered that people were also having flaming arguments on subjects loosely related to one film or another. So I said to myself, that sounds like fun, I must get in on the act.

    To start with I just voiced opinions / thoughts in a logical manner, but soon that was not enough, I had to start getting really into the spirit of things with plenty of But I'd become quite well known amongst the other regular posters and had gained a few online friends. Thus I didn't want to prejudice them against me as I was going to play "Devils Advocate" on occasion by voicing really wild opinions in order to get across a more salient point. Thus I created another identity, built him up slowly until I could happily unleash flaming death.

    Of course even that in the end wasn't enough, some people were just not seeing my point, or getting the hint etc. etc. So I invented another identity who used to argue with the second identity to really thrash out an argument

    Anyway, one of the usual types of subjects came up (religion / politics / killing cute little animals) and being in somewhat of an impish mood decided to go the whole hog and use all three identities. Well this argument raged for weeks with about 10-12 regular posters all going at it hammer and tongs In fact people were commenting on it in other threads it was getting that entertaining Then I got an e:mail from one of the other people involved in the debate, to my primary sensible identity. Now she was an English Professor from the States and she suggested to me that she suspected that some people were using multiple identities in the argument. Based on similarity of writing styles. She didn't mention me but I had my suspicions that the jig was in part up.

    Now I had long suspected that she also had an alter ego, and that as with me was using them both in the argument. So I suggested same to her and outlined which identity and my reasoning for it. She admitted to it and that she also was using three identities. So being an honest chap I admitted what I was up to and suggested that we root out the other potential "double identities". After a considerable amount of effort and further arguing we came to a rather startling and amusing conclusion;

    There were actually only four seriously regular posters to the thread, and we all knew each other reasonably well, as we'd all been e:mailing each other to chat using our original identities. Worse we ALL agreed with each other and so the whole argument was a sham
