Well, I restarted my PC and I got this
So does this mean M$ is considered to be a threat?

No, it means some bit of software has called the host process to execute some code, congrats, you're infected

You can tell DEP what programs to ignore but I would advise that you do not even touch that or else judging by that picture you'll be a mass infected worm haven within 2 minutes
so...you think maybe Myth's opened an email from someone he doesn't know then?
or maybe a hundred of them

As for DEP - Its a godsend. A step in the right direction as this has closed a fair few methods a lot of the worms were using for infection. Shame it wasn't released sooner.
at least Uncle Bill Gates is trying to sort us out

ATI X800 XT PE | Blackgold TV Card
Raptor 74Gb OS/Games | 200Gb Storage
Samsung 21inch TFT | Freecom16x DVD/RW
If they knew it was "pretty useless", then why would they put it there in the first place?
Could it be wrong? After all I have Symantic corp. instaled and its upto date... I also dont open strange emails nor tdo I have frends! And all my BT's are scaned, and I dont have IE instaled... I thought I was protected prety well...
i never seem to get viruses
but on the flip side of that, i dont have any anti virus software to detect them....oh oh
however, i dont usually have the same install of windows on my pc for more than about 6 months-because i get so annoyed at the amount of junk on my desktop
i like having a nice tidy os to work with
Pete
Symantec products suck, there crap, trust me on this. You need more than antivirus to protect yourself from viruses. I would call it common sense, but, well i guess its not for some people . and if your using Windows, you do have IE installed, its impossible to remove it, right now anyways.Originally Posted by myth
