How many tons was it that a human could lift if all the muscles worked together?

I remember reading an estimated figure somewhere, or maybe it was a documentary.

If memory serves, the difference is fairly small. This could be the wrong way round, but tonnes is metic (1000kg), whereas tons is imperial (about 900kg).

I've certainly read reports of people lifting cars up to rescue trapped relatives. There was a recent one of a woman who did it to rescue her husband. An average family car e.g. Ford Focus weighs 1750Kg without the shopping.

Still very very impressive none the less. I remember watching something on 999 a few years back and a couple of blokes ripped a car door of its hinges with there bare hands to get someone out.

It was actually 1 guy, he put his fingers between the roof and the door frame, put his feet below the window and actually bent the metal of the door over. The firebrigade said that it would have taken them 5 minutes to do the same job with their cutting equipment.
