Coupons are a trick to apply as soon as possible. Anchor for the buyer. I understand when they give a regular visitor's card, on which money is accumulated and stored for an unlimited time - this is convenient. Sometimes it can take something from such a card at the expense of the "cashback" on this card. This makes sense, because no one rushes you to buy.
I've still have the odd one given to me as gifts as people know money tends to just end up being spent on the kids. Heck I even got my family a Nando's one as it was big discount at eating there from Costco. I do however stick to the rule of spending ASAP. Keeping one too long is just stupid!
I have never used discount coupons. I'm rather lucky
I only use them if I can get them at a discount, which I do immediately before my purchase. I don't recommend stockpiling them, especially with all of the shops closing down and no longer accepting them lately.
I've seen companies do this to top a member of staffs wages, in another country but still..
The company pays tax on wages, the wages are then topped up with vouchers for say, Tesco, so you have enough in your bank to pay bills and have some spending but then your shopping you can do in a supermarket, that's fine, but when you have a few members of the same family all work at the same place it gets a bit daft..
Sometimes use em
Only get shopping vouchers if they have a discount and you have something in mind to spend it on. People need to do away with giving shopping vouchers as gifts, especially with these chain stores that can be on the brink without most people having a clue.
We got gift vouchers from work this year, for tax reasons, these particular ones were annoying as very few of the participating retailers accepted them online, and those that did wouldn't take them as part payment, the value of the thing you were getting had to be less than or equal to the value of the voucher, so you lost out if there was anything left on the card
And if you don't use it in 12 months, they start charging a monthly "service" fee on the balance of the card, until there is nothing left.
Rubbish
I have a discount scheme through work to get discounted vouchers - saves me hundreds per year between Sainsbury’s, Xbox, Just Eat etc
