Amazon ... items related to what's in your basket

I have just added a set of bathroom scales to my basket. Previously in there was a set of small, kitchen coffee scales.

So, Amazon added, in the "Related to" bit of the page, .... a pair of Wellington-type boots.

So okay, boots fit on feet? Check. I get on scales by standing on them. With my feet. Check.

But wellington boots are "related to" either bathroom or kitchen scales? Really, Amazon? Seriously?

I've had a few head-scratching suggestions, but that one just .... tickled me. I wonder if they expect me to drink out of a rubber boot, or stand on bathroom scales?

If the latter, I want to know what else they think they know about me? Or whose been using my Amazon account and has a rubber fetish because, for the record, it ain't me.

    They all say that...

Are either set of scales mains powered? Maybe they don't trust your wiring skills?

    They do?

I bow to your evidently superior knowledge of those who say that. I don't know anybody.

Erm nope. IIRC, AA batt's in one, and definitely AAA in t'other.

    Nice try.

Sole is a type of fish

    Wet soles = Wellingtons

Beef Wellington, weighing the ingredients thereof. Obvs.

(are any of the suggestions ever all that related? can't say I've noticed, but have just tested it at random with a tin of spaghetti bolognese.. sponsored 'products related to' include a pack of 10 coloured felt tips. sponsored is a pain in the neck full stop at amazon anyway, though.)

Some of the Facebook adverts are interesting. Haven't got a clue what they things are, or where you insert them.

    Oh, groan.

Still, looking on the bright side, at least I now know where to apply a boot, still attached to my foot.

I thought my puns were bad. So does my wife. But that ....

And now I have a home for the other boot, too.

The way this thread is going (about how I expected, TBH) I think I'm going to need several pairs of boots because, well, I really don't want them back, once extracted.
