woah! That's scary! My friend had an awful crash where she went head first into an oncoming lorry. That was not what happened in her case. Car and person got mangled. She survived but will never be the same sadly. Lorry driver fine. It would seem from eye witnesses (including the lorry driver) the car kept accelerating uncontrollably and she was clearly terrified and trying to fight it. It was a Toyota who did have a recall with sticky accelerator problem around that time. They denied it obviously saying it shouldn't affect that particular car. Not sure where that avenue all got to in the end but it made the newspapers at the time as there is no other good reason why someone (sane and happy) on their way to work would keep accelerating around blind bends on a country lane and not decelerate even when they were heading into a lorry. If you ever end up in that position aim for the hedge and try and get into a field. I once aquaplaned on a country lane and had to do just that. Far better than rolling it/finding a lorry!

    Re: Preferred Messaging Service?

Facebook Messenger is the most convenient lately. Not fussed on WhatsApp due to privacy concerns. I don't care much for Facebook itself but messenger has all my friends on. I never enjoyed Skype, more than anything I want MSN messenger back!

    Re: Preferred Messaging Service?

I want to move to Signal but with no easy way to move your messages over its a barrier that and I only have 2 contacts using it means its very low adoption.

I don't like the fact that Signal auto adds contacts, that's one area I want them to stop doing.

interesting I was about to download it. when you say auto adds contacts? Adds them to what? I don;t mind the app seeing my google phone book. I do mind it uploading it somewhere and sending all my contacts a message or such like.

If the contact you have in your address book also has Signal it auto adds them and shows then has a Signal contact, (well mine did)

One thing not looked at yet is it can be a replacement for the inbuilt sms/txt app so that's a bonus (gets it away from the google message app)

    Re: Preferred Messaging Service?

So Telegram users can now import their Whatsapp messages into it,

    https://www.gsmarena.com/telegrams_l...news-47472.php

so if its possible with that why hasn't Signal got this ?

thanks. That's not the end of the world for me, if they have my number already then meh. I don't mind the google text app, it seems to work ok.

    Re: Preferred Messaging Service?

I use many different messaging apps /platforms because of various work, Family and friends using different platforms and to be honest, There is absolutely nothing I send and receive that worries me in the slightest regarding privacy. What is all the fuss about, I do not know.
