    Question Mobile Contracts

anyone know if you can switch a vodaphone contract to a pay as you go and keep the same number?

G/F is on Vodaphone, just cancelled her contract but needs to keep the number for the next couple of weeks.. the contract was through singlepoint4u phones... can you just ring 'em and swap it to a PAYG?

What you need to do is get a PAC (port authorisation code) from vodaphone and give this to the new provider you are changing to. Not sure what will happen if she's staying with vadophone though.

It ain't easy though my GF been trying to change from orange to 02 and trying to keep her number. Be at it for about 2 months now, finally given up cause 02 are hopeless ( or so it seems)

Dunno if it helps but my mum used to be on O2 and decided to sell her phone, she called them and told them to change it to a Pay-As-You-Go and they just sent a new SIM card through.

She did the same on Orange once as well...

Think as long as you're past the obligatory 12 months tie-in they'd do it fine.

Make sure they don't try to charge you for a PAC code, someone who worked there told me they try and charge you £15 for it when it should be free IIRC

Forgive me if I am wrong but do you want to keep it on Vodafone but just change from contract to PAYG ??

If so then thats different from porting the number and so you dont get a PAC number.... Just call cust services at Voda and tell them you wish to convert your contract number to PAYG.

The most that networks require is that you are out of contract....

If you are moving to a diff network then you need a PAC code.

ok guys close heres the right answer:
you are NOT with vodafone but singlepoint, who in turn have an uber contract with voda
singlepoint do charge you for a pac code and are the only "virtual" network or billing company as far as i know who do and somehow get away with it legally
you will need to get a pac code and buy a voda or own a voda PAYG sim card and port the number onto it
singlepoint have just been bought over by voda and providing you are porting to them may waive the pac code

but welcome to the rip off that is phones4u/singlepoint...
