consoles may not be up to the speed of a pc (i suspect the games will look about as good on either for the first year of production) however the cost and lifespan of a console blows a pc away. if you brought a £300 pc in 2000, you couldnt do anything on it now.. in fact even if you'd brought top of the range then (which would have been a ~1.2gig chip, 512 meg ram etc), you woudlnt be anywhere near playing games on it any more.
the graphics for the ps2 are also incredible. look at gt4, and its hard to even ponder that all that graphical wonder comes from 300mhz and just 4 meg of vram. 4 meg ffs! the games are easily on-par with ~32-64 meg graphics cards. apply that logic to the 256 meg gfx in the ps3/xbox 360, and well it should blow pcs out of the water.
i've not used a pc for gaming in a while. it does some things better - fps, and strategy games, but its too expensive to justify doing imo

O-yeah, if you want to just play games then buy a console, there's not really an argument unless you have lots of dosh

Looks very nice, So....weve had the XBOX360, the playstation 3, and nintendo vow to make something of a "Revolution" where processing power/speed is irrelevant any more, and going to "change" the way we play games! Will just have to wait n see.
The only thing on the ps3 I dont like is the blue-ray drive opening on the front..I think it would look much nicer if the drive opening was flush with the rest of the case. Otherwise, specs sound amazing, cant wait
well its teh shineiest one so far.. it will be underpowered in comparison, but it will play all nes, snes, n64 and gamecube games, the former 3 are downloadable online..

Wow. Some of those games looks absolutely amazing... When those consolse are cheaper, I should think they'll be worth a purchase.
