What are PC World like with returns?

When I don't have the receipt?

I bought a DVD writer there 6 months ago in the Jan bargains for 50 quid and now it's decided to stop working.

Speaking on behalf of an Ex PC World Employee.

    "NO REFUND!"

These are the two words the staff must repeat in training for 3 days. They are like the rifle to a soldier, the wooden spoon to the baker and the sponge to those irritating peopel that wash car windows at traffic lights.

"Erm... I bought this item the other day and I woul......"

    "NOOOO REFUND!"

    On a more serious note.....

If you bought it with a card they can do a search for the recipt.

Unopened within 14 days you can get a refund. Opened and you can do an exchange.

I don't want a refund, only an exchange for one that works

    Thanks I'll try tomorrow then.

TBH if you only want an exchange they're likely to give you one since it greatly decreases the likelihood that you're trying to rip them off. A refund without a receipt is pretty unlikely.

I wouldn't give anyone a refund without a receipt or proof of purchase - period.

To be honest even asking for an exchange without at least some shred of proof of purchase is still pushing it.
