Overcame a phobia today....

i managed to overcome my rather huge phobia of needles today and gave blood for the 1st time! i did have to look away when they stuck it in n pulled it out, but apart from that, i was fine Just outta interest, does anyone else on here give blood?

i was never asked about my, ahem, substance intake, they were just rather inquisitive about my sex life.

I started giving blood when I was 17, stopped about 6 years later, after a bad experience with a doctor who was of the opinion that shoving the needle into the arm, was the correct proceedure, none of that antiseptic stuff, no careful insertion, just jab it in..

havent done since.

I used too, but apparently voltarol for my pain means i can't give anymore

Given blood ever since I read about some poor kid who needed a bone marrow transplant and this guy who was a match refused to help as they were a different colour. The kid died a few months later. She was 7.

been 7 times now - fastest pint was 2 mins flat... and then I fell over lol... I should be on me 10th pint by now, but i keep missing my appointments... I kinda like giving blood, cos I know that some time in the future, I AM going to need it... espesh during the summer months, because the sun makes me do bad things with my mountain bike. Saying that, the winter and mud do too oh well.... what a personal disaster...
