Don't get me wrong, it was a great event. Probably the greatest show the world has ever seen. But i do find those silly celebs ego's funny. I would love to have Robbie Williams get all grumpy and 'important' on me so i could laugh in is face. Idiot.

    Can't wait for Live 9

Yeah, I was pleased to see Dave Gilmour setting the example. I hope other stars do the same. I mean, what's the point of offering your services if not for free? The people who played are seriously loaded and I think can afford it for such an historic concert...

When Iron Maiden played charity concerts to raise money and awareness for MS due to their old drummer's illness they didn't take a penny for themselves. Every bit of money raised went to the Trust Fund they created.

Why was the same not done for Live8?

The acts didn't get paid per se although there was an after party for them, but the cost of putting on gigs of this magnitude all around the world is immense and even with all the companies offering stuff for less than they would normally theres still gonna be huge bills to foot im guessing that there was infact very little cash left over after they've paid the organisers, sound and lighting engineers, security, camera men. thats before you even start on how much the p.a and stage cost to sort.

I played a charity gig not long ago and we raised somewhere in the region of £750 for cancer awareness iirc but theres still stuff that needs paying for even at the low level that I'm at, the bar staff certainly don't wanna do it for free I think the sound engineer got paid aswell.

Every person who took part got a £7,000 goodie bag, containing things like ipods and gold watches etc. So they did get paid really, just not in cash.

Whether they where donated by Rolex or Apple is irrelevent, why did Geldy do a quid a txt compo to win them ? or sell them on ebay with live8 branding? He would have made money for the cause, and raised awareness, instead he gave them to stars who've got more money than sense and dont need them in any shape or form, and infact, probably already have gold watches and ipods
