Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Just finished reading this no less than 10 miniutes ago, and I have to say, wow.

The book had the best, but most obvious (when you look back) ending of any so far. And it seems that the reading age of the book has grown too, with a touch of romance thrown in...

So what do you that have finished the book think?
    Did you like the ending?
What do you think will happen next?

    What'll happen next?

I'll vomit if one more person tries to tell me how brilliant the books are, fair play if you like em thats up to you and I'm not gonna try and change your mind so why do people insist on trying to draw me into them,Clive Barker Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, Andy McNab and the odd Tom Clancy, these are the books I read and will continue to read.

Don't take that outburst personally, im just surrounded by harry potter fanboys in this house and need somewhere to vent

Knox join the club, its funny how people don't see how they aren't being ripped off, correct me if I am wrong but every book he gets up, meets his mates, goes to school, does some magic, goes off on an adventure, gets in trouble saves the day goes home. What's different between the stories?

I almost collapsed and died when someone tried to tell me it was more of a story than Lord of the Rings. I think that person spent the rest of the day with a complex I lauged that hard. Give me any book by Steven Erikson, Philip K Dick, Tolkien, Douglas Coupland. These are good writers, these can set a story, especially Philip K Dick and Steven Erikson. You see the difference is that Harry Potter is the same stuff over and over, nothing changes in the formula. What makes a writer is the ability to tell a story, a world a universe from beginning to end and the whole story changes bit by bit. An example of this is Steven Erikson who is reeleasing tales of the malazan over ten books. All you see from the Harry Potter books are the same story over and over. I am sick of a certain mate of mine trying to tell me that Harry Potter is one of the best books of the 20th and the 21st century.

The films are fun.. but I think most of the previously mentioned are more of a challenging read ... The books? I would describe them as "Enid Blyton does magic."

I've just finished the book today myself, have to say its was good probably 2nd best of the series so far.

The ending was kind of predictable but that didnt detract from it.

Can't wait for the next one

From what I've heard there isn't going to be a next one... although I haven't read it yet so don't know (and I don't want to ) how open ended the finish is.

Well with what she set up, Rowling would be stupid NOT to make a few more in the series, she has made a new thing to continue on after harry finishes school and probably a fair bit beyond...

The boyfriend finished the book on saturday night said it was good. One of my friends spoiled the book for me by changing his msn name to what happens in it!

There are 7 books in the series, so there's going to be 1 more. JK rowling said so in her only interview of the book at the weekend.

Havent got round to reading it yet, i've got 3 other books on the go at the mo!

Got to be at least one more as the ending is very open ended and is begging for another book.

The Dan Brown books a great reads, if only i could say the same for the harry potter books, which have seem to have gone downhill since the first, which wasnt all that any way.

    Just finished,

I think The Half Blood Prince needed some severe editing the pace was uneven and the plot very thin.

There is only one surprise left now, who survives at the end of book seven?
