Well thats just the point - there is very little they can do, short of arresting and searching EVERYONE walking around a busy metropolis carrying a bag or rucksack of any description.Originally Posted by shiato storm
sounds like a plan - do it.
but your right - how the hell do you stop what you dont know your lookin for
It would be virtually impossible, all you have to do is look in any built up area such as London, Manchester, Birmingham etc and it would be impossible to police and search everyone that is walking around carrying a large bag or rucksack
The asian guy who everyone was chasing didn't know why they were chasing him but apparently many of them watched him throw the bomb into the carriage and run off. They still didn't catch him though
Minimal casualties, no chemicals involved either
we need to train more people how to run fast. good case for tackling obesity if you ask me, those responsible seem to be pretty slippery little buggers!

I know this is a serious matter, but I could not help chuckling a bit at the irony of this situation.
After the big deal people made about not being afraid and not letting "terrorists" beat them, they have gone and handed them a victory on a silver platter. Now the entire world knows that you only need a few loud noises to shut down london. Next week they won't even be using dud bombs, it will be bottles of lemonade and baking soda exploding in paper bags that brings the city to halt and cost millions of pounds an hour.
This situation in London right now is the definition of an overreaction.
To be honest, this is unwinnable without people on the inside ousting the criminals. You can't stop people with bags or cases getting on the tube. You have to respond whenever something happens. And as for just ejecting all the people who fit the profile, well we wont go there.

You can look at it like an over reaction, but u could also look at it as a safety precaution.
If the police etc just sat back and said "ach, no one was hurt, carry on" There would be a nationwide uproar. They wouldnt be doing their jobs in keeping the city/country safe. It's their duty to assess the full damage, and treat it as a crime scene. They're handling things a LOT better and quicker than 2 weeks ago.
Even if someone did use lemonade + baking soda, they would still be deliberately trying to terrorise people and they would still be commiting a crime, and the police would still need to be involved and the people would still need to be caught and punished.
Two new updates, London police arrest a man near Downing St.! and Police appeal for people to send in mobile phone images and videos of blasts - what an age we live in!

with all the money they spent on speed cameras and upsetting everyone, you'd think it should have been more wisely spent else where...

Lets hope they get some decent info out of him...

I think Elmo's got it spot on.
Sounds very much like the bomb makers cocked it up and only detonators went off, thank goodness. There will be some good to come out of this latest attack.
Having intact bombs and intact bombers will give the police a huge amount of information. Once you get one then they lead to others.

Unless we're dealing with many, small, independent cells. Which would be hell to deal with if they're all getting encouraged. Still, if they all blow themselves up...
