    Reckon this is good?

Seems very decent, albeit boring design.

yep thats a good jacket, I have an older version in the same fabric as a backup. Should be reasonably warm, if you get chilly just throw a fleece on underneath. Dont bother about getting one that zips in, as the zips give a cold spot at the front. Regatta stuff used to be seen as a bit of a joke, but they purchased a couple of companys and really improved, I have one of their backpacks and its as good as the more expensive stuff and a lot cheaper.

Thinking of going for the good berghaus or peter storm fleece + lightweight, waterproof packaway shell route.

    So the fleece:

    And the Shell:

Although this Berghaus RG1 jacket is nice, if its warm enough:

How much cheaper? I need a decent and preferably "technical" dayly backpack. Nothing big though

Personally, I would just go with a tripple layered trash bag. So what if I look homeless?

Waterproof and windproof and cheap is easy.

Waterproof and windproof and breathable and cheap isn't.

Out of the jackets mentioned I would go for the regatta waxbill for value for money, its going to be brethable enough unless you are doing heavy duty moutain biking or running. If your after a rucksack go and try a couple on they all have varying backlengths, even a loaded 35Lt pack can be very uncomftoable if it does not fit. But you can get a good pac for around twenty to thirty quid.
