Family Guy is a very funny show, and the Simpsons is decent as well (although some of the newer ones are a bit iffy). Scrubs is definately one of the better comedies to come out of America. Friends has its moments, but is simply not as funny as a lot of the stuff over here - I only find myself laughing out loud once or twice an episode, if that. Will and Grace was okay for the first couple of series, but its pretty boring now.
And over here? Red Dwarf, Fawtly Towers, Only Fools and Horses, Father Ted, That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI... the list goes on. These are shows that regularly make me laugh, much more so than Friends, yet they don't have the huge success that it does. Ultimately, I think we make better comedy (for those with a sense of humour anyway).

The Shield is cool, best thing on the telly at the moment IMHO,and Boomtown
( wonder if there will be a new series of that?)
Given new evidence (series 4, episode 3) I think he is gay. In one of JD's dreams, the todd rips his own heart out to give to the patient, then as he falls to the ground wispers "i'm gay"
