What qualifications do IT employers look for?
Currently I have 5 GCSE's (C or better), and ICT AS level.
I was thinking about doing a MSCE or something similar, but I dont know what other things there are, or there importance.

A good one that 99% of people like you to have is Maths at B or higher and physics.
Esp if you're looking to do a bit of programming.

depends to what extent your employer understands IT. Employers in the know would probably appreciated you understanding and probably enjoying computing on a personal level, so its always worth adding on ya CV
tbh most IT employers are pretty clued up, and because at least half of most jobs is unique to a particular company or project, they're happy to take a risk on new people as well as looking for experienced people.
One of my colleagues (who's much better than me, and 4 years younger) has nothing beyond a-levels in maths and IT I think, and he's a genius with a bit of code. My Boss also likes employing people who like computers, so playing games and gluing together your own PC is a definate plus.
Having said that, the more qualifications and experience you get, the more you'll be able to pick and chose jobs, and get more money. MS certifications are good and respected to an extent, but really need experience with them (and they're not as easy as I was hoping - still working on 'em )
Are you thinking of going to Uni or College? An Degree or HND would be a definate plus.
Good luck anyhow - Andrew.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.
ECDL...
My friend has GCSE IT, A level computing and other bits an bobs...but apparently it was his ECDL qualification that got him his government job...
