    i especially like this:

''The circle appeared over two nights at the start of August''

just the thought of the little green men coming down doing a bit of work, then going down the pub then getting some sleep and coming back the next night to finish it off hehe

This is what gets me, surely if your crops had been flattened over one night, then surely the next day you would set up a camera of some sort to capture any 'strange goings on'.. Just in case they were to come back!! I definately would!

If I was trraveling around in interstellar space and came upon a primitive civilization, I would mess with them, just for the hell of it. Still, I don't think crop circles have anythign to do with aliens.

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one, and the simplest way to make a crop circle is to get some rope and a stick.

I don't think it was little men in a spaceship that did them... but then i don't think it was some bloke or gang with a board and rope either... how the hell could he have copied such an elaborate design with such presicion ?

Like i said earlier i have no idea... just find it fascinating

Unless anyone living in Wiltshire makes a point of camping out in random corn fields then i suppose we'll never know

It takes FAR less precission to do that to a large field than it does to build a house. I can build a house.

For this crop circle I would have just had the design drawn out first. Then I would have figured out the scale I was going to use. Then I would have put a post in the center, with a string attached to the top, with a post at the other end. Then I would have used the string as a guide and marked out the various radiuses of the the circular features. I would then use other strings radiating out for the center post to effectively separate the field into a grid, so I could give the people with me a specific section to do.

Any group of nominally competent people could make that crop circle with ease in a few nights. All they need is a plan.

I don't see what is so facinating about it.

Well, if its a true crop circle (can't tell from the article) 99% of the corn is BENT not broken.

If you trample over corn you'll break more then you bend, similar with boards, you have to be very careful or they'll break

Yes, but Shell, if it wasn't a gang of people, then what are you suggesting? Its some sort of freak weather thing? Hedgehogs?

Why do you view what is almost certainly and obviously the case with suspision?

I mean, I find it amazing that a 747 can fly... all those tons of steel; but I accept the laws that explain how it happens, I don't say - well, its not magic, but its certainly not those wing things either...

It was some people, with sticks, and other equipment. Don't fight it.

Because there is a smallish group of people, that for some reason insist of reading meaning into any old nonsense. A picture falls off the wall - its not a loose nail, its a ghost. A crop circle appears, its not some people sneaking in at night, its... well, aliens for most people.

I don't know why... perhaps its because what we all know to be the truth is boring? Like Santa... we, as adults know the truth, but best to let the kids have their bit of magic while they are young.

And schmunck - I just want it on record, that officially, I have no idea that is Aurora Snow.

Its fairly easy to create spectacular designs - you just have to know a little geometry and how to apply it. Why are they all based on circles? Because it's really easy to produce and circles are a good base for producing nearly every other (symetrical) geometric shape all based on a fixed length of rope.

Crop circles are a great night out.
Plan a design, meet in the Pub, when the Pub closes go and scare the gullible.
Don't make it too complicated, cos that'll take more'n one night... ooops
If you're lucky it'll be in the newspaper with some "expert" telling you that "It COULDN'T be man-made because of XYZ"
If you're REALLY REALLY lucky, you'll be able to find the "expert", and sell him your share in the Brooklyn Bridge
