Just wanted to tell everyone I finally managed to get a place at uni!

I had an offer from Southampton and Northbrook (Sussex) but I will be accepting the place at Southampton for BA (Hons) Fashion-anyone who knows me well enough knows I'm a lingerie enthusiast and hopefully this course will point me in the right direction. I'm pretty chuffed

One problem though:
They've told me the term starts on the 26th Sept but it looks like an induction week. Does anyone know how important this week is as I am on holiday until 30th Sept but could fly back early if I might miss something crucial.

The receptionist says I won't be missing a lot by being absent in the first week and it isn't worth cutting short a holiday for - but you never know

Heh, i skipped basically all of induction week, believe me, it's not THAT important. In fact, most of the information we received was highly irrelevant.

Well done for getting in though! I go to Portsmouth uni so i often go through Southampton to get my plane back home

Edit: congratulations Cat! When I went to Southampton (University, rather than Institute) I moved into halls on the Tuesday, and had to go and register for my course on the Thursday (or maybe Friday, I forget), at which point there was also a meet-and-greet type of event. There were various other things to do that first week, like registering with the GP for example (they insist that you're registered with a GP in Southampton). I don't know if you could have registered after that- I assume that there's some provision for people who really can't make it there for the first week.
