Google to offer free WiFi in San Fransisco

    http://thebosh.com/archives/2005/10/san_francisco_g.php

Web search company, Google said on Friday it has proposed to provide free wireless Internet services across the city of San Francisco reports Reuters

"Google has submitted a proposal to offer free, wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) to the entire city of San Francisco," Google said in a statement.

The Wi-Fi access could be funded through online advertising, a Google spokesman said.

If only we were in SF. What would be really cool would be seamless integration when moving, so a download wouldn't stop when moving between AP and AP. Could use it on the train and everything.

They are trying to set the record for most gay porn downloaded via wi-fi in one city.

On a serious note, I can't see how offering free internet is good for any business (including Google) outside of the marketing realm.
