    Replica Canon Cartrages

This place is changing so fast i have no idea where this should go. -but anyway.

I've just bought a used Canon iP4000 which needs ink.
    - For my epson880 i used Jettec cartrages from SVP, and the ones for the iP4000 are £2 each for the 5carts. Or slightly less if i buy a pack of all of them. And i already have a account there, and i can get some CDs/DVDs etc while im at it.
    - But i was just wondering if theres any diffrence between all the diffreny replicas as they all seam to be about the same price, www.superinks.co.uk (projet) are basically the same, www.printerinks.com are only a little more,

Just wondering what you guys think

    Aren't they around £1.80 at ebuyer.com?
personally I'd just get the cheapest - I'm sure at those prices it wont make any real difference

I'd avoid unofficial caterages at all costs, Sure the offical ones would cost possibly 6x more, but out of 3 printers we've had, the first two both died directly after putting unofficial ones in, so with this one we're more careful.

I bought unofficial ones for my Epson printer, but I've got a Canon ip3000 now, and considering the incredible amount of time these buggers last, (still using the ones that I got free with my printer several months ago) I'll probably be sticking to genuine ones, especially when you consider how cheap the genuine canon ones are compared to the other brands.

I agree with the guys about the printers dying on compatible cartridges - the last one leaked all over the place inside the printer and now all my prints have a black line on the left hand side of the printout. So even though a whole set of originals will set me back £32 I prefer these to the £10 compatibles (mainly because I don't want to buy a new printer again anytime soon.)

Instead I'm going for the Canon IP4200 (twice the quality of the IP4000.)

P.S. Maplin are getting replacements of the compatibles inks so most of them are gone dis-continued and fairly cheap.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

Thanks Josh, ill try and find the right ones from ebuyer, (dam there web site is a mess)

To the others, maybe you've got a point, but we've been running the 880 on replicas for the last 4/5years, prolly got though about 50/60 odd carts in that time (about 2:3 colour:black) and never had any trouble at all, except for the odd block jet, which seams to be mainly becuase it gets left on 24/7 and somtime not used for a while to the ink drys, and anyway, at £1.80 a cart, you dont mind running a head clean once a week.

Also, our iP4000 is second hand , and has replicas in it right now, which seam fine.

Official canon carts are less than half the price in japan than they are here. There must
be somewhere which imports them and sells them on for just a bit.

Maybe i should start smuggling ink carts hahaha.

    but I've got a Canon ip3000 now
    So do I

I use photoshop to manage my prints usualy, but I did dabble with cannons own offering to see how it faired. Did you find when using cannons own photo printing software (if you used it at all) that the prints come out very dark and genraly poor. This was based on printing the image straight from the file with no adjustments.
    Rhyth is selling:
Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di ll LD Aspherical (IF) £230 +pp
    Canon 50mm 1.8 II £50 +pp
    Proven good copies.

I've been in a factory where they make remanufactured ones and they use the same stuff as the originals so I dont worry about using them.
