    Outlook 2003 - replies in HTML?

    Hey

    Is there a way to set all replies to HTML formatting? My signature conains a picture and it doesn't display in plain text (surprisingly)

    Cheers

    Tim

    why not use rich text for mails ( if you must have fancy formattings )

    but here is a quick point to consider.
    some gateways will block HTML mail ( even Microsoft have decided that it is evhul (tm) )
    some will convert it to plain text.

    it also means your mail takes up more space on someones mail server ( consider the fact that some mailboxes are only 20 -30 meg in a size )

    does a pretty picture really enhance the content of your message ( remeber , email is a messaing protocol )

    Rich text would be fine. It just seems that every reply is in plain text. If I could set it up for rich text I would be happy.

    I had a look in three last night but I couldn't find anything about it. I don't use Outlook 2003 at work so I'll have a look when I get home.

    Thanks

    I think it will compose new mails in whatever format is your preference, but replies should use the format of the original, unless you elected to view messages as plain text in which case it downgrades.

    If a person sends you a mail which is plain text, they possibly don't want an HTML/richtext reply, I think that is the rationale behind it.

    At the moment where I work I'm sending HTML emails because they contain a long url which breaks up in plain text.

    html mail is for noobs

    like moby says, fancy formatting just takes up space (dont play the gmail card at me) and is not really necessary. also it will get blocked as spam on some providers.

    No you can't do this automatically. There used to be an option in Outlook but it was removed in the 2003 version.

    The idea is that if someone sends you a plain text message then it's likely that they either can't or don't want to receive HTML messages

    echo
    $message;

    hate to nitpick your php, but the result of that code would output $message, not "hey this is a generic email". things in single quotes arent checked.

    you could use

    echo "$message";

    or

    echo $message;

    again, sorry fr being fussy, but thought u may wanna know
