Buy them all a coat for Xmas. Then use my favourite chat-up line of, "Get your coat love, you've pulled!"

An alcohlic beverage along the lines of Baileys for both of the housemates

And a lovely expensive bracelet, earrings, necklace or watch for the girlfriend shouldn't fail

Failing that, on Boxing Day, you can sneak off and find a big box, sit inside it get a friend to wrap up the box, poke a few airholes in an inconspicuous place

Naturally, I don't recommend the big box one, not only is it potentially dangerous but its also quite lame

Considering you're a student, I can't imagine you'll have that much money to spend, so I guess the expensive item of jewellry idea may have to go out of the window too...

I spend £35 a week going to see my girlfriend and £40 on top a week taking her out for a meal and cinema etc. so yeh, pretty skint

I don't think jewellery is a win because they don't really wear any.

One flat mate is a professional singer and loves acting (drama/music stuff) and the other flat mate doesn't really have any interests apart from nagging me. She treats cancer though and loves doing that I think.

How long have you been with the girlfriend? Any idea how much she's spending on you?
Is it serious (ie has she introduced you to her parents)?

One thing is for sure - no matter how much you spend, make it LOOK like you spent more on the girlfriend than the other 2.

    DVDs??

It's funny you say that, I've been with her for 8 weeks and yeh, I'd say it's serious. I'm staying at her place for 4 days from friday hence why I have to get it sorted before thursday. The whole reason I'm going to hers is to meet the parents kind of thing so if she's asked me to do that then it must be serious

Well, my girlfriend won't know how much I've spent on my flat mates and vice versa so that doesn't matter.

Zan (singer flat mate) bought me an amazing birthday present, my music theory grade books which I needed so she got it spot on so now I feel obliged to get her an equally good present.

Hard to say any further without knowing her interests, but stay away from cheap jewelery. If you get a £40 necklace or similar from Argos, it'll make you look like a tightwad with no style.

My girlfriend prefers things like a day at health spa's, a beauticians treatment or a nice meal out rather than 'things', but I still get her DVD's too.

    Flowers?

As a side note, i was thinking about getting an extra comedy present for my family in addition to regular presents - a printed voucher with "The Gift of Wisdom" on it - they get to ask me 1 question each about anything

My girlfriend never wears makeup so the whole beauty thing is a no go.

Gift vouchers would be good but what for?

I suck at buying christmas presents, I never used to have to buy them and now I do it's impossible. Grr!

I might go to the shopping center in a mo' and just have a look around
