    Hate Christmas @ Hexus!

A lot of people don’t like the advertising pimpery that is the modern Christmas (try not to say x-mas lazy fingers). But lets take a little look at why.

Officially this is my first year hating Christmas, I was wondering what it would be like, and thought I’d give it a try. I'm 17 now and all the joy has been sucked out, last year at least I had time to enjoy in Christmas, but now with a job and stacks of coursework, some of the things I used to enjoy the most, namely sitting around doing crap all and decorating the house seem like a distant dream and a pain the arse respectively.

Another thing I noticed at my age is that people want money from you, ok they want pressys but they cost money (I did know this before had I assure you). Not only that but they seem to give you less, these people what are they trying to do, ruin me.. With Christmas no longer seeming to result in a net gain for my finances its furthered my misery.

I'm pretty sure this is the last major one, bearing in mind that I haven't gone into the usual Christmas arguments, or my sisters noisy kids. After Christmas exams are too look forward to, but these ones are a-level ones!! Arr!! The Pressure!! So If I muck them up I will have to redo in the summer, but that mean more work then, which means less times on my other subjects and worse grades!! Which means I wont get into uni and I'll have to stay in Cornwall for the rest of my life working on a farm or in a pasty shop!! So, stress would be the final point, made worse by the fact my college exams office (I say office, sham would be better) have 'mucked' up my application for Word Processing Support In my exams (I have very bad handwriting due to dyspraxia, you may well notice in some of my posts my spelling aint to hot ether) So I have the pressure of trying to sort that out as well…..

Don’t you just love this time of year?

This picture sums it up some how. (thanks google)

I was going to go on about how commercialisation has ruined Christmas religious connotations, but seen as I'm an atheist, I don’t really care plus I just wrote all that about myself so someone else can say it.

There's definately a lot more pressure this year.. Need to re do Graphics coursework before Jan etc, then will have the work piled on.

Just looking forward to sitting around having a nice ale on christmas day. St.Austell Tribute ftw!

Ah trippledence soon you will see, it only gets better from when you loose the fun

i had all that pressure last year too, i had resits in january to worry about too heck, lol 4 a-levels and i lived it like i wasnted too, was paralytic every opertunity i coudl get with mates over the holidays, the alchol makes Xmas fun again, but its all worth it in the end.

as i sit here in my university halls with my garlic Kebab finished, tins of woodpecker chilled beside me, in my own space with my own music, it makes me realise the a-levels were worth it and uni rocks, im having the ltime of my life out gettin wasted or in studying/getting wasted, christmas is a time for celebration, so what if you have to spend that little extra (tbh i dont so im ok )

to sum up, christmas = fun, uni = fun, a-level stress = dont worry about go and live your life and when its over youll be glad, and xmas itself = Jesus (dont forget it )

It's strange because when people were asking me what I'd like for xmas, I was really struggling - I couldn't think of ANYTHING. Now, at just a week before xmas, I've probably thought of another 3 things I'd like. They fairly expensive things too.

I'm sure this time of year makes you buy, even if you're not buying for others.

I've had the luxury of being in a different part of the country than my family for the last two Christmas seasons

it's not the fact of Commercialisation of Xmas that ticks me off...because Commericialisation keeps the economy movign and keeps moviing money

It's all Materialistic - because your always bound to have some numpty of your street that OTT's with the decorations at Xmas time... [America is known as the worst -u want evidence check out the movie called Christmas With The Cranks starring Tim Allen

The fact that i hate the shambolic things goes beyond my mind-lol
i'd like to look into the mind of one of those guys.... i think it would be something like below

"Yehh, it's Xmas time -time to show off how much Electricity my hosue can pull out /what contacts i have so i can get meself a generator so at the end of the quarter - i'll get one BIG massive bill for over £1000 " its like challenge for who can get the highest Electric bill

    There no need for it...

Also - why are ALL xmas songs Jolly?
theres nothing Jolly about Xmas-everyone seems to be taking Weed or sometihng they suddenly switch from " ohh my lifes crap -i hate life" to "Merry Xmas everyone [Mistletoe at 10 paces]"No... Xmas the way i see it is it's a time to get drunk and embarrass yourself more infront of your wife ,kids or entire family- Or totally stuff yourself with all you can eat style day full of fats and sugary stuff.......as wle las be shocked by how your cousins/ family members have grown up

Xmas is just so materialised these days and i say theres no need for it -every single shopping mall in England without no doubt will have either some cheesy/ Pound shop xmas lights decorations with Shakin Stevens' Merry Xmas everyone blasting out into every shop

I enjoy the family side of christmas tbh, don't often get alot of time to sit down n eat a meal with my family but I hate and have hated for the last few years, the build up, christmas starts in october now apparently the songs the tacky as hell lighting displays some houses feel the need to put on its all just annoying as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, most people go though this xmas hating stage. As a kid you really enjoy it, because, well, your are a kid. It's all about you and you get great presents and there is no presure. Then you get older and start seeing it all for what it really is. You become suddenly very cynical and realise it's not really what you remeber from being a kid. This can last a few years until you finally think, sod it lets just get what we can out of it and enjoy it for what it is. Then you start ejoying it all over again in a totally different way; Time off work, excuse to party, nice food, booze etc. Xmas is nothing really special to me, but i enjoy it and stopped being all barhumbug a couple of years ago.

It does get annoying when shops sell christmas stuff so early.
