    Swearing in Clss

A secondary school is to allow pupils to swear at teachers - as long as they don't do so more than five times in a lesson. A running tally of how many times the f-word has been used will be kept on the board. If a class goes over the limit, they will be 'spoken' to at the end of the lesson.
    Seems a bit weird!

Maybe I'm showing my age but how the hell does swearing at your teacher help anyone to be a better person/member of society?

Having read that yeah I'm showing my age. Bring back National Service

Smells a bit like the episode of South Park where the word that sounds like "SHIP" became socially acceptable.

What, by allowing kids to swear at their teachers do they honestly beleive that it will make the word lose its impact, someone or some people have REALLY lost the plot this time.

I believe this will have a negative effect, as despite the "talking tos" after the lesson, whose to say that the children won't get even more unruly.

i cant believe children swear at teachers. There were some absolute horrors in my class in school, but none of them would DARE swear at a teacher! Something's obviously gone awry somewhere!

i'd beat the little turds for saying it once....

tell you what, lets smoke and shag in class too seeing as we are chucking all respect out of the window. Don't get me wrong, I used to swear and cuss at school (and smoke and shag) but never in front of teachers for fear of the cane.

I think the 'you can't beat kids with sticks' rule is wrong. It didn't hurt any of my generation so why should it affect kids of today.. this country has gone far too soft, too many namby pamby liberals.
I am trying to see it your way, but I can't get my head up my arse

I reckon it's a good idea, apart from the 'talking-to' bit after class. Let them swear at their teachers if they want, but if they go over the limit, take them out to the playground, and shoot them in the head

FFS, bring back the cane. Kids get away with too much in school these days. I went to school in the 70's and early 80's and if you swore in class, you got the cane. The result? Nobody swore in class.

Kids under this scheme will earn brownie points from their peers for swearing. It's going to become a macho thing for them. 'nuff respect and 'ting. 'innit?

...and this will acheive what exactly?

I finished school 3 years ago (well roughly anyway) and I really think the cane would be a god idea. However I think most of the problems stem from home, but then, that's a whole other topic...

i dont see what was so wrong with the cane to be honest. If you are good, you have nothing to worry about... it's just the fact that there are some power hungry teachers still who think that beating the sh*t outa you cos you disagree with them, is fun. Hmmm....

Going on from my last post though, i only left school 4 years ago, and, ok, there were some terrors in the school who would just go waaaay over the line, but i've never heard another pupil swear at ANY of the teachers. I dont know if that's cos our teachers were particularly cool/good/strict/scary or what tho....

The day my Child is allowed to swear at Teachers is the Day he get's home tutored, where's the respect gone? people don't seem to value that any more The teachers should be able to do their jobs without this kind of verbal abuse, no one else is expected to put up with it in their jobs so why expect teachers too
