Me thinks your bengali, unreal? There are some shops on green street full of those durian fruits, whats funny is watching the workers lugging them into the shop from the outside display at the end of the day. They can get as big as watermelons.

Havent tried them myself, although might give it a go now.

    [edit]
forgot to mention favourite fruit. Its got to be a plum. They are the most satisfying thing to eat when you get a nice sweet ripe one, but they are very hard to find when they are ripe. Makes them all the more valuable and appreciated!

Urgh man, Durian? Really? Smell and taste like something died IMO....although people tell me that they only taste good when they're really fresh. The one I tried wasn't. Very nearly upchucked. Durian icecream wasn't too bad though, although the smell still makes me retch....

Makes me laugh that all round the Pacific Rim you'll find little pictures of a durian with a line through it foribidding the transport of the fruit on buses/planes/ships, it stinks that bad....

    Mine has to be....Rambutan...

Yup, they look like big, red, hairy balls.....but they taste fantastic, like massive grapes, but sweeter. Watch out though, the old wives tale goes that if you eat the skin around the stone in the middle, it can totally lacerate your innards....fun....

My mum comes home with a bag full of those every time ¬_¬ she goes through them as if shes having a feast solely based on them

Oh yeah you reminded me of Durian Ice Cream... :OOOOOOOOO That reminds me of Halo-Halo ice cream dessert, no exagurration, its the most legendary desert known to any form of being ever. That stuff should be illegal its so good...

I also stumbled across another delicacy, a bit off topic perhaps but I like it nontheless... my personal favourite with beer, Balut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut It's basically a half developed chick in the egg boiled and eaten... I really wasn't up for eating it but after watching my uncle eat it so many times in nights out I took the plunge and it tastes really good, like ultra soft chicken
