Good point. But then maybe it would be nice to have your laptop fully charged before it powers down. Might even work out better, as you can just leave it and forget about it charging. Also when you unplug your laptop to take it with you eveything should shut down there too. Posibly it could kick back in though if the battery meter drops. Worth looking into though.

Ive just bought one of these things i paid £35 from maplins.
    Plugged it in worked well.
The first time i turned it off it ballsed up my portable hard drive.
Not good the thing was brand new and had just been used to back up my old PC.

I have contact the manufacturer and will keep you updated.

It would take a hell of a long time for it to pay for itself if I got one. Cheaper not to buy one.

Some electricity companies will give you one free if you choose the right tariff; my one came with a powergen deal a while back.

No-one's mentioned not wanting to turn their PC off for the reason of having loads & tabs & folders and whatever open, & stuff you're in the middle of, is it just me that does that? I hibernate probably 50% of the time or more for that purpose alone.

Old thread now, but i use sleep mode 95% of the time and i use Wake On LAN with my Squeezebox (Music streamers) when i want to access music from another room and the panel still works great.

Really??? What electricity suppler do you have? You can pick these up for around £10ish - it think having a printer, wireless/charger mouse base, 5.1 speakers, external HDD, monitor, and whatever else, all on standby ALL the time like i used to would soon cost £10. But it's not just the cost to me but i feel like i am doing a small bit to help the environment, blah, blah, but more than anything its the convenience of not having to to go around turning things off.
