    Chester Zoo

Awwwww we took pre-school today! and it's still my favourite place in the whole wide world!!!!!

This big bugger wandered past right where we were standing watching him, he looks at me! stops, roars at me before wandering off again, i was taking his pic with my phone so i think he was telling me to shove it

And we went through the bat cave i was surprised because nearly all the kids went in despite it being so dark and scary, even some staff weren't that brave

And there was a baby spider monkey pressed up against the glass, Emily had her hands on the glass, he was copying her, she thought it was wonderful

Can't wait to go again! does anyone else love the Zoo? if so what's your favourite Animals?

Hard to choose for me, i love them all inc Lions, Tigers, Giraffe's, Monkeys, Snakes, Elephants there was a calf there today, couldn't of been very old

Chester Zoo is the best! I hadn't been there since I was 11 until this summer. I've got a load of pics somewhere on my harddrive if anyone is interested in seeing some .

Did you go on the monorail? It seems to me that theres always a huge queue for it. We waited 40 minutes to get on it last time I went.

The Monorail was out of order today i'm thinking if it only runs in peak season, lots and lots of walking for little legs, most of the kids fell asleep on the way home

Aww . The zoo is too big to walk around even for me . I don't know how the kids must have felt. I just found this picture on my harddrive. He followed me around the edge of the enclosure after I took the picture

The only Zoo in the UK i've been to is Flamingo land - havn't been in years, but have always loved it as it's an amusement park and zoo in one.

Definitely got to go back sometime

We have a child who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy, we took a pushchair for him because carrying him would put too much strain on his joints, but fair play to him he didn't spend much time in it, he wanted to be out running about, he's a Monkey so we used it more to stop him from running off

Excellent pic btw they have an Elephant calf there can't be very old, i only managed to get a few pics on my Phone, they didn't come out very well

Glad to hear the kids had fun. I think I remember seeing something in the paper about an elephant calf being born at Chester about 8 months ago. It was born prematurely and nearly died if I remember correctly.

If you sit in the park and ride carpark next to it, you can see the rhinos without paying!

Hehe. Any more moneysaving tips for us? The rhinos arent that interesting tbh. Prefer the reptile house and meerkats .

A friend of mine lives at, and works at the zoo. We quite often pop up there to see him and his huge collection of tortoises (we have 14, he's got about 80+) and we had a nosy around the zoo last time we were there. It was soooo cold we just ran for the reptile house to have a nosy at the zoo's tortoises and warm up!

It's a great place though, they have some really successful breeding programs of some really endangered animals.

That's awesome! if i hadn't of chosen a career working with Children i'd of worked with animals in way or another, Jon and i are going to take our boys in half term because i didn't get to spend any time reading the information about the different animals, and when we go we can stay for a lot longer, i noticed a lot of Babies yesterday a good sign as to how successful the Zoo is

We spent a lot of time watching Ebony the Jaguar, not only is she absolutely stunning it was lovely and warm in her enclosure, and the twilight cave was warm but the kids didn't want to hang around in there

There was a lot of construction going on yesterday, the Hippo's were having their enclosure extended as well as new homes added for other animals

Technically, she's Ebony the Second... the original Ebony died last year, aged 20... and I have a cast of her left hind paw print sitting on me desk (v.cool)
