Saying that i'm quite protective of my pc, i dont let anyone touch it even if there is a problem with it. Mainly because no one i know has a clue about computers, the past 2 student houses i've lived in i'm the one who has to sort out the internet, networking and any other technical problems in the house, like...
1) Why isnt the internet working? Because i've blocked everyone off so i can get a decent ping in UT2004 (I cant stand people who file share when i'm playing online).
2) Non computer related but still good...
Me - *smells a burning smell and wanders into kitchen*
Me - "Stuart whats that burning smell?"
Stuart - "Oh the kettles not working and keeps turning off"
Me - *Flicks the switch a few times, then opens up kettle lid and peeks inside*
Me - "Whats that white liquid in the kettle?"
Stuart - "Oh i'm boiling milk for my hot chocolate..."
- Here begins the part where i cant make a coffee in the morning (Thank god my mate has a Senseo machine ) -
Me - "Right...because most normal people microwave the milk, and since you've had that hot chocolate powder for a month how have you been making them?"
Stuart - "I've been microwaving it"
Me - "And common sense didnt tell you to carry on microwaving it?"
Gah..i hate living with that boy. For a person who does a computing degree he buggers up anything in the house. Hence the reason why i had the forsight when he was messing around with my router (he reset it just so he could access it without having to get the password off me) which had been working fine for over 2 years. I had a barmy at him, no one messes with my gizmos and gadgets in this house.
To summurise i really dont like people messing with my stuff unless they have more knowledge of it then me. But i on the otherhand can mess around with my house mates pc's
Edit (to save double post)
Set up a restricted accounht on your pc and prey they dont guess your password.Or just leave a webcam running and when it picks up some motion get it to tell them where to bugger off tooOriginally Posted by tiggerai

If you walked into someones house and didn't agree with the way the furniture was arranged in their lounge would you start moving the couch around etc?
No? Well why the f*ck do people adjust the graphic equaliser/bass boost settings on other people's Hi Fi's/car stereo's or change the settings on someones computer then
I have my stuff set how I like it. Changing that is a crime punishable by removal of fingers!
"In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship."
People don't mess with my settings, but my computer's usually so heavily customised that I would be pretty pissed off if they did!
Maybe you should get the NeoWin uxtheme.dll patcher (2nd link) and some decent StyleXP themes from www.customize.org or www.studiotwentyeight.com and make it look so different they won't question your settings.
The Y'Z Dock (MajorGeeks usually have it) is pretty good too if you like those Mac dock things.
