    Talking Cooling with Cooking Oil

Don't know how many of you have seen this over at Tom's Hardware, but how about silent performance computing with that chip-shop ambiance.

Some people have too much spare time...and cooking oil.

Well at least if you get hungry you don't have to wait for the deep fat frier to warm up.

wouldnt it solidify if you left it there (turned off) too long, thus not give optimum cooling for aages?

It's not ideal though really chaps.

That oil would still go off and start breeding germs & bacteria at a steady rate.

Now, add this to the fact the oil would probably penitrate the motherboard itself and start going "funky" thus meaning in about 3 months the system would be pongy indeed.

You'd be better off using a silicon based oil as these would not mould over time like chip-pan oil would

What about hemp oil, thats interesting. And has more omega 3 than fish...

5lab, oil doesnt set as far as i know, it only does so in the pan becuase of the fat from what you have been cooking is mixed with it.

As it says in the article, motor oil would probably be best.

Been done. I saw a PC completely submerged in a motor oil filed bath once on the net (or magazine) somewhere.
