Sending international faxes without a fax machine

I need to send a copy of my passport via fax to an international destination in order to apply for a visa. Unfortunately, I don't have a fax machine and probably will not have access to one over the weekend. I can scan the photo page off my passport using my scanner but e-mail is not an option.

Is there a way I can send faxes online with some assurance that they have reached their destination? Cost is not really an issue unless it runs into hundreds of pounds per page!
