I use 'Soccer' and 'American Football' to distinguish two games both commonly called football. The majority of the world (outside England particularly) call it Soccer.

I don't see the attraction in watching a bunch of overpaid pretty-boys running around and screaming anytime somone so much as looks at them.

I will however, make sure I slag-off 'Soccer' everytime somone posts anything about it on this forum.

Teepee you need to chill man, every thread someone disagrees with you you try to turn into a flame war. To paraphrase mr winner:
'Calm down, its only a forum'

For the record, i too see no point in football whatsoever, its played by a bunch of overpaid, underworked, seriously undereducated (for the most part) muppets, who seem to think falling over is cause for rolling around in agony for 5 minutes. (choose whichever football you want for that one )

I seriously think we should teach rugby rather than football in schools, but then again, i wouldnt want to go through the stack of forms youd have to fill in to be able to play a contact sport, god forbid anyone might graze a knee or something.

How about this for a crazy sugestion; Call them 'Football' and 'American Football'. And who cares what some of the rest of the world calls it, We A) Live in England, and B) Invented it (before American handball... er, sorry football).

Now that i agree with! I'm not a Football fan either mate, I much prefer watching ugly boy's running around a Rugby pitch, screeming everytime someone breaks a limb

Excellent! I don't care if you like what I like, just so long as you hate what I hate!

I watched it, I guess I can see the attraction but sitting through 4 hours of TV for 1 hour of actual play is perhaps something best kept to once a year

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...34708687989562,

Slightly large link but thats all the adverts from the ad breaks. It's one of the biggest things about watching the Superbowl. Some comedy ones in there including the Vault drinks one, and the eye candy jessica simpson advertising for Pizza Hut

lol it stops so often i get bored coz the whistle is constantly going,
and as for the football bashing yes they make a point of falling over but if there were players that didnt do it then they wouldnt get free kicks fact is it doesnt hurt them they just know when to go down to get free kick, also the tallent required to be professional football player i think far exceeds that of american football maybe excuding the one that throws it hes is good but the meat heads that just muncg the others plz,
and the talent required for it is minimal compared to football i think take ronaldinho he is probably one of the most gifted athletes in the world and is amazing to watch.
but the most impressive thing in usa fotball is the thrower, and after practise im sure it isnt as hard as it looks unlike running through the worlds best defences.

    deep breath

Finally got to the end of the first quarter (1 hour in!) and it was 0-0. Last few seconds the guy just boots it for a field goal and no one seems to care much....WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THAT AGES AGO!!?

    Fair enough.

I will however, make sure I slag-off 'Soccer' everytime somone posts anything about it on this forum.
No mate. That would be disruptive and after a while, if you have nothing to say in threads about football \ soccer beyond 'OMFG soccer suXorz' you'll be posting nothing more than spam, and your comments will be removed.

The World Cup will soon be upon us. Probably best you just don't read \ post in threads about football if you just want to 'slag off' the game.

You are fully entitled to your opinion on this or any other issue, but posting just to say you dont like the game 'everytime someone posts anything about it on this forum' isn't going to work.
