    Acrophobia \ General Phobia Thread.

Vertigo to you and me, irration fear of heights to... you and me again.

Anyone else got this? How bad?

I've got it pretty bad, can't get more than about 10 foot off the ground, on a ladder say, without getting all tense and the like. Yes, I have crybabyophobia.

Can be a thorn in your side. No planes, no diving boards, no rollercoasters (I have no problem with speed, G, negative G, G Unit and all that, but you find a coaster that does that without going up in the air.)

Remember, just because you feel scared on the Shock Wave at Drayton Manor, doesn't mean you have this, because if you did its very unlikely you'd be on it (wouldn't get me on it for a million pounds) and remember its not a fear of heights, its an irrational fear of heights.

So, even in a situation where I know I'm safe, I still wont get on. Straped in or not.

Planes are right out. They are in the air! I couldn't get on something like that and know I couldn't get off.

Personally, I'm with Dave Lister - If God had intended us to fly, he wouldn't have invented Spanish Air Traffic Control.

Anyone else? What about other phobias? Anyone got an irration fear of custard or safety matches? Tell us your phobias!

I'm not good on bridges - heights I can deal with , but for some reason bridges just dont do it for me.

worst one I heard is of a friend of mine who has an irrational fear of big things next to little things. it really sets her off ( thankfulyl she hasn't been to the russian doll shops in prague then ! )

I have a fear of heights... But only when i don't feel safe. So planes = fine. Rollercoasters = Brilliant. but when it comes to walking on a bridge next to the edge, I get weak at the knees.

I also have a fear of spiders. Not all spiders mind you. One's that are big enough to eat a bird, my hand, or my sister, i'm fine with.... Its the little ones I don't like... The ones that could slowly nibble their way through your skin and start crawling round inside while you're alseep *shudders uncomfortably*

Pffft... you big girls blouse. I bet you wouldn't go up blackpool tower either and stand on the "see through" floor.

I used to have a little fear of heights when I was younger, but one day while I was at holcombe brook on the good old Krypton factor assault course I had to climb the netting flip over and then carry on. Once I got past this point it was a case of " Okay.... that wasn't too bad" and then on the slipslide it was a case of laughing my arse off before I splashed down into the muddy swamp like below.

Only thing I'm slightly wary of now is evil cows in fields when I bypass them on the way home at 3 am

My girlfriend hates Clowns and any fruit with hair on. If she sees a clown on the TV she will pretty much start crying.

I don't understand why she does not like fruit with hair on like peaches but she just can't touch them. Once at work someone put one on her chair and she had to get the cleaner to move it.

Dispite all this I still love her

hmm hights are not really to much of a problem if there is any type of safety around, its when its a sheeeeeeer drop like a cliff that really messes with my head.

Also spiders.. its not the spiders themselves but the presence of it around me, if i dont know where it is i kinda start to freak which does unfortunately mean that when i see them a jump on the poor thing til its just another part of the floor I dont like doing it but i dont like not knowing where it is...

Likewise, although its really only bridges with water under 'em for me

I'll go over them in a car or anything else, but ill get really tense and worried about it, so i'm not sure if it counts.

Not yet found anything i'm phobic of, or even vaguely scared. I can imagine a few situations where I could be a bit worried, or even scared, but these are pretty extreme. As far as phobias go, thats being frightened of even the smallest version of wat you're scared of, and I think i've covered most of those things. Heights don't phase me (used to climb around stages, putting up the lights etc) and spiders, well, one made me jump once when I HEARD it on the wall behind me!!! Was watching Bob Monkhouse. Never seen anything that large & alive before, even in a zoo. Went back 10 secs later with a box to catch it and it had gone :/

The thing i'm most scared of is loosing someone I love, and there is (usually) nothing you can do about that anyway.

Seaweed because it's evil. Just cannot go near the stuff.

Stickers... just no... i just do not like anything stuck on me. I've had this since I was little, the charity workers with the cans of pennies and their stickers I've always avoided like the plague.
