Aimed at different end-users obviously. No point in having an OS with redundant features

Well it does seem to make sence if you think about it... And Kezzer has a good point. This is what I think.

Windows Starter 2007 - Cheap version (To convince people to upgrade even if they don't need to, so they make more money.)
Windows Vista Home Basic - Home version
Windows Vista Home Premium - Better home version (With features advanced users would use, but not all business features)
Windows Vista Business - Small Business
Windows Vista Enterprise - Big Business (Perhaps, bulk install features, and networking features?)
    Windows Vista Ultimate - Everything

Thats just a guess though. I can't wait for Microsoft to actually give details about the versions and maybe prices too. Then the real disscussion starts.

The versions do make sence although a little confusing. There are also 2 other versions where Home and Business have N after them from what I have read where they don't have Windows Media Player with them due to some Laws in europe of something? Not sure where the N comes from though?

Infact does anyone know why N? Read that here by the way: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=29780

Plus there's going to be double that anway, as every version is in 32 or 64 bit from what I read.

How? as I don't know a lot about software, but I presume Vista will fill a DVD Easily, and a 64bit would be another DVD Full, unless they ship them both together then it'd be a tight squeeze.

It's the european version isn't it? There's an issue with the Media Player coming preinstalled in Europe.. I think I read that somewhere.. Maybe not?

Thing is mine came with Realplayer pre installed as well, so XP Basically had the competition, so I don't see what the problem is.

    old news...

    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...a_editions.asp

all the info you should need on them is there

As for sizes, they could easily fit both 32 and 64 editions on the same disk. The Feb CTP build of LH has been released to us lucky testers, and the 32bit ed is 2.7 gig, with the 64bit being 3.6 gig

That could go on a dvd-9 pretty easily Oh and those are the enterprise ultimate editions, and nearly feature complete so the image sizes shouldn't really increase much, although we will know more in april when beta2 is released.
